Breastfeeding and latch

Help with breastfeeding, latch and positioning.

If feeding hurts, takes a long time or leaves you wondering how much milk your baby is getting, we can look at it together. You don't need to know what's causing the difficulty before asking for help.

Get comfortable feeding your baby

We'll watch a feed, talk about how it feels and explore positions, feeding setups and latch techniques that suit you and your baby. Sometimes a change to where you sit, how you're supported or how baby comes to the breast can make a difference.

When helpful, we can discuss feeding tools too. We'll consider what helps you feel comfortable and supported, and what is manageable to keep doing at home.

Help your baby feed more effectively

We'll look at how your baby latches, sucks and swallows, how milk is flowing and how well they're transferring milk at the breast. A weighted feed can help us understand milk intake during that particular feed, alongside your baby's growth and feeding history.

We can try practical adjustments to positioning, latch and managing milk flow, then make a plan for supporting your baby's intake and your milk supply. If bottles or pumping are part of that plan, we'll work through how to fit them in too.

Look at the full picture

I'll ask about your feeding and health history, your baby's feeding patterns and what you've already tried. I can assess your baby's mouth and oral function and look at milk supply or pumping when relevant. I'll explain what I'm noticing and when another clinician's input may help.

Your goals guide the plan

You may be hoping for more comfortable, relaxed feeds, wanting to continue breastfeeding alongside bottles, or deciding what feels sustainable. I'll listen to what's important to you without assuming there is one right way to feed your baby.

We'll work toward your goals with practical steps you feel able to try. Text support is included as questions come up, and we can adjust the plan or arrange a follow-up when more support would help.

Choose your visit

Before your baby arrives, choose a prenatal consultation for preparation, questions and planning. After birth, book an initial postpartum consultation for our first visit together, or a follow-up if we’ve already met since your baby was born.

In-home visits are available in Seattle and nearby areas, with virtual visits available too. Text support is included after your visit. If you're not sure which appointment to choose, you're welcome to text me.
